Wind and rain and drama on the air
Too much intensity. Cable news networks, when they have a story with a bit of drama, build the tone up to melodrama. I’m overdosed on hurricane coverage, in particular. So much wind and rain, OK. So much “look at me, I’m tethered to a rail and I’m watching that wind and rain”; hard to stay interested. Thankfully there was curling on for a bit, followed by Pitch Perfect. Yes, I’d already seen the movie, but after a third or fourth time I look beyond the story line and watch for gadgetry. Like a radio station that uses CDs but has the staff refiling row after row of vinyl. Don’t let the absence of turntables interfere with the pleasure, OK?
I’ve started reading a book (old school, with hard covers and paper pages) written about life in 18th century Newfoundland. I’m rather enjoying it, although the turning pages talent has lapsed, in part to my faithful Kobo. I’m never been one to preach about the smell and feel of paper; the story is what matters, right? This was a gift from an acquaintance that has just sold the house and needs to downsize (might I suggest a Kobo, going forward?)
Getting set for another break in my routine, due to some travel plans elsewhere in the household. I’ll have to plan meals, beyond the simple freezer robberies, and I really should make an appointment to finish car repairs. Let’s see what the new week brings. The dog will be here to keep me from sleeping my life away.
