Why this playlist?
The three of us (father, mother, son on a visit) went out to a community event, this evening. A concert of music by local students. And my son asked the inevitable question: Why is the playlist from the generation before the performers?
I don’t have a response. We (my high school band compatriots) had exactly the same question. One possible place to lay the blame is with the teachers; after all, they were from the generation before us. We accepted their guidance (and they were responsible for the purchase and practice of whatever we performed.) At a guess, the kids tonight were in exactly the same situation. And, like us, they made do and put on a reasonable show.
At a guess, that will also be the last performance event of the summer. School starts in a few weeks, and the expensive parade/horse race show has the city turned sideways. No, it’s not the fault of the roundabout builders. As an aside, someone asked on social media if the Guinness awards team will be sending a certificate: Largest number of roundabouts for a given population. At the rate the construction is going on, stop signs will be relegated to the artifactory of the local museum.
Temperatures dropped off, this afternoon. The hurricane skirting the south of Nova Scotia has an effect. No damage to anything (unless you count people sandblasted on local beaches). We should consider ourselves fortunate. And keep an eye on the forecast. The windy season isn’t done, yet. That’s why I bought heavy deck chairs.
