A fuller day
I did more today than during a normal week. No wonder I’m feeling ready to get some sleep. Retirement puts a different speed to daily life, for sure.
The usual communal breakfast was eased (in dog terms) by rain showers. No need to spend my time worrying if the car was about to bake the puppy. And by the time we’d finished eating (and gone for groceries), the morning was over. No chance to relax, as this was also “book research Saturday”, a monthly commitment. The chatter was lively, and I learned some cool community content along the way. There’s more of a back story than most folks realize…
With my afternoon winding down, I had enough time to BBQ supper before we geared back up for an evening of trivia. Community, again. I spent thirty years living off the grid in a big city, it seems. Here, there’s always something on the calendar, and we’re trying to get out there and play a role. Winning, again, at trivia is doing my part. New people around the table, but the pool of facts allowed us to take home some of the booty. A tiny can of ginger ale, for example.
Now, the wind has dropped, and outside the bugs are realizing that there are prey available. Slow moving, as a plus. How fast can a bug fly? I know that running in any given direction would just bring me into contact with new adversaries, so I’m accepting to contribute my extra blood into the communal supper (bugwise).
