A concert AND fireworks

posted in media |

When the idea was pitched, almost a year ago, I was far from convinced. The idea of presenting a concert, with nationally acclaimed performers, seemed like a good, if perhaps impractical plan. Tonight, we attended that concert, and it was a success by all measures.

On the day of, I fired up the BBQ so that we could get supper over with a minimum of effort, and shortly before curtain time we headed out. That the hall is only five minutes away is an advantage, as is the relaxed dress code. Even the dog accepted to do his part, taking station in the rear of the car for a second time today. Our tickets, printed beforehand, saved precious seconds at the door, and we were able to get three decent seats not far from the front (a neighbour had joined with our group).

The music was familiar. My only “off note” was a young tourist (he admitted such, proudly) who felt the need to yell (yelp?) over and over again. I endure, with difficulty, those who feel the need to accompany the musicians during ANY concert.

Once the show ended, and the hall cleared, we decided to finish the holiday evening with something out of the ordinary. A large fireworks display, in town. It took some jockeying to find the “best” location, but when the flash and awe began, we had a full-0n through the windshield view of things. Cloud cover aided the show, and we were not disappointed.

Oh, and the show? The East Pointers
