Counting in action
I moved to a different new channel, at suppertime. The things you learn! Hat’s off to the City of St. John’s, which is moving to “automated garbage collection”, soon. For the rest of us, this refers to trucks with a hydraulic arm to dump your bin into the back. As I see it, welcome to the 20th century!
News is on hold, while we await the tallying of the CPC ballots. Let’s face it, dealing with ranked ballots for a field of (was 17, now) 13 is not a simple task, and the photo of the cots placed on hand to allow care of the volunteers shows just how rigourous the job is expected to be.
Almost military (as in warzone) in its simplicity!
I must note that the majority of the ballots were mailed in, ahead of time, but that ranked model moved things out of the realm of new technologies. Still, the announcement of the winner is scheduled for about an hour from now. Wait until the newly crowned learns that there’s a whole national election process in the next level. Worse than playoff hockey!
A long time ago, I purchased a wonderful electronic flash system from the Metz company. Still works, with old school cameras. Had to get something that would work with my newer digital gear, and I went with Metz, again. Today, I performed a firmware upgrade (computers are everywhere!). Went just fine. I like when a company makes equipment that works, year in, year out. Wish the philosophy could be engrained in other sectors.
