The doctor will see you, now
Today, I was reminded to call the provincial registry for those of us without a family physician. Called, left my number on the answering machine, went back to my routine. When the phone rang, several hours later, I was prepared to spell my name and the other usual tra-la-la; imagine my surprise, on giving my name, to learn that I had just been added to the list for the new doctor (arriving next month). Hurrah!
