Bringing in the feed

posted in Uncategorized |

Already moving through the month of September. Probably time to bring in the syrup dispensers because the zoomy birds have gone South period. They do this every year around this date. They come and spend about four months in my backyard and then suddenly they’re gone the only proof being the dispenser of sugar water that does not empty constantly. We do not have much use around here for sugar So what we do buy is given away. We have other products similar to that. Those huge bags of sunflower seeds that we do not eat. We give them away and then, occasionally, we find the grains inside of other things like the car. For that one I blame the chipmunks. We have other regular visitors including the fox that is from the Point. Someone said they live around here now but I am uncertain. About the only thing we ever give them in the way of food is the occasional hens egg. Fun to watch them try to manipulate it so they can take it off to a hiding place in the woods. There are other animals that depend on largest. Nothing big but we do know that if we did not help out they’d be next door begging their. No insects around this year. No wasps guarding the BBQ for themselves. No investigations or alarm. In other words a kind year from mother nature. I do not tend to murk down everything that happens outside. It takes too much of an observation time to get all the details. I just remain confident that we are providing an environment that is safe and healthy. All our visitors concur. This has also been, up until now, an easy storm season. I know that can change quickly but as we move through the months to come, the risk of high wind goes away and the idea of a snow bank becomes something to wonder about. I’m getting to the age that I will be one of the only people in the area that remembers when the snow used to reach the top of the wires. I guess I am truly becoming an elder.
