Structural consolidation
The new RV is getting closer to a shakedown trip. That’s important. It also requires that we try systems, many unfamiliar.
In the last rig, we had a standard hot water heater, with a reservoir that weighed as much as a small child when filled. The new rig uses modern technology; a tankless hot water heater. I am learning. What that means is that a small flame is kept ready to inspect cool water, and by radiation brings things up to a more comfortable temperature. It works. Reassuring.
The waste water tanks were filled and pumped. No waste, in the water. This was more of a test to assure that the pumps works as advertised. And they do.
The fresh water tank has been filled, a couple of times. Again, a chance to check the fill ports and pumps, and the see if we understood the system. The new .
All in all, we are doing our best, and we can now cook and sleep and void our bladders. That’s what moves us from camping to glamping.
Water purification filter is ready to do its thing, and we realize that a meter to measure how much water we actually put in to the tank (hidden from view) would be useful.
Time was put improving the suite of storage drawers. The furniture is cosmetic, but the structural stability is untested. A decision was made to consolidate the drawer bottoms, which is a polite way of getting more glue and metal into the mix. I couldn’t see what was happening, which made me less useful as an assistant, but this is the sort of task that might only happen once. Which is why I am making mention as we go.
Someone slept out there, last night, and no frostbite was recorded. Getting warmer, every day.
