Watch the clock
Do I own a watch? Why, yes I do. I do not wear a watch, which means that there are few photos with anything looking like I even know what time of day it is. When I had to pay attention to the time of day, I carried a strapless Casio in my pocket. High tech. Worth about ten dollars. And when the battery would die, I would get a better watch, because the price made sense.
I learned, over time, that the world around me took care of the problem. Is it even a problem? Anyhow, my office had a lot of computers, and every single one had the display right down to the second. There was also an oversize wall clock. Twice a year, I would pile chairs on a desk, and reset the hour. Money problem solved. As a plus, I never fell.
In a drawer, I have a selection of pocket watches. Again, each one worth about ten dollars. It was more work to wind the watch than I needed, so I stored them in a drawer. Another problem solved.
Why does this matter? Not sure. I do not run a railroad, or launch rockets. I can count to ten, so short term timekeeping is within my skill set. And if I want to watch something on TV, knowing the time is not really important. The program will start when it wants to. I am just an observer.
How about you? Is it important to keep track of the time. For the record, I don’t have one of those fancy smartphones, either, but someone nearby usually does. I just ask the time, and carry on.
