One piece at a time
There is a term for things that mesh together. No, not gears. I thought about that already. This is more about concepts that mesh. Here, I’ll give you an example.
Johnny Cash had a some about building a car by procurement, over a long period. One Piece At A Time. Took home the materials from his employment in an auto plant. I doubt the story is true, but it came out in 1975. The release date meshes with my exposure to Gestalt. Yes, the one where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. At the time, I was fascinated to learn how the world could be explained in a single sentence.
And then, I heard about someone named Aristotle, who had postulated the same thing, a long time ago. Could it be that good ideas just keep coming back to give a sense of understanding.
Let me ties this in a bundle. We were looking at the prices for individual parts in RV land. It’s true. The whole is worth more than the sun of the parts… until you try to build something based on a price list.
I get it. The rules of philosophy apply to life, not business. You can buy all the pieces for what ever, put it together, and then realize that this is why we have manufacturing. The economy of scale. Or Gestalt. I am still working this one out. Not for long, because m time is too valuable. And have you checked the exchange rates with China? Back to my regular thought stream.
