The locals always know
Nearly, like within jogging distance, there is a home that is larger than most in this area. I’ve been in the driveway, for no particular reason. What made the property unique is its identifier. The local people refer to it as the “Millionaire’s House”.
Turns out, after a recent realtor’s coup, the title fits. The current owner has very deep pockets, and a net worth larger than the provincial budget. More digits than I have on my pocket calculator. I won’t likely meet the new owner, because this is a non-resident situation, but it shows that there are people that can afford to live in my area. Make of that what you will.
How do I learn things like this? Well, in the country, stories are shared. And at a meeting of minds, last evening, enough details came out to permit attaching a name and a face to the place. Again, I haven’t actually seen the new owner, but I believe. The locals always know.
I don’t think there are any other idle rich (dare I say billionaires) in the area, but my ear will be listening. You can’t always tell. The driveway seemed very ordinary, and the absence of armed patrols might have been coincidence, or a lapse of attention. We do hear about famous movie stars that end up here in the summer. Who knows? Maybe we’ll end up with an episode of Rich TV.
I am not, rich or famous, but that might be how they (the Rand F) hide from the cameras. Just mixing with the poor and simple folk.
