Akin to watching paint dry
Some proof that I have too much free time: this afternoon, rather than watching paint dry, I listened to the live counting of votes for the position of Speaker of the House (in another country). Not because it mattered. Just because I had no need to paint. No paint. And in keeping with the fruitless nature of my activity, they did not elect a speaker. The high drama has been underway for days, and if ever we needed the invention of the telegraph…
I’m glad that democracy is a slow process. In some places, they burn bits of paper (no democracy, but combustion as a tool). My broadcast, this afternoon, came via YouTube, so I will hold with the idea that there are modern measures at play. It could be worse. Engraving stone tablets, as an example. This was just reading the roll and waiting for a shouted replay (big room). The government (there) is stuck in the mud, and the spinning of tires is a sign that something will happen (when hell freezes over).
As I mentioned, not my circus. Someone actually did a write-in for TFG, and he got one vote, so we’re making progress.
You can tell by my disdain for process that I am not involved. I watch, until something more interesting comes along. Late on a winter afternoon, not likely. My real hope is to be able to look back and laugh, several decades later. Live old, etc. I wonder if there will be another vote, today. Yes, I guess I am bored.
