The wild beast watches. Wait; correcttion needed. The wild beasts watch. We have more than one. And although wild fits, the term beast is overkill. Wait. More corrections, after interviews with local birds and rodents. Vicious, they tell me, so the word beast can remain until I have more informaiton.
Now, let’s be specific. We have foxes around here. Many of them, although I can’t tell one from the other. Their own version of witness protection. Killiers, I have been told. And they do watch.
The preferred location is just in front of our picture window. They are pretty. Drives the dog to distraction, when he is aware that they are watching. He has his own word. Sounds like “woof”. Just like everythign else. In any case, the dog and the foxes don’t talk (to one another. Just comments. The dig is partculaly concerned with biscuit theft; he is easily distracted (by foxes) and when he drops a biscuit, it disappears. Hardly magic, as we have seen the foxes retrieve and run. Yes, we also watch.
The foxes have a fascinaiton with life on our side of that window. They will watch for hours. Might be their version of TV.
Given that we see two, together, the logical thing will be for them to go on seasonal hiatus, and return later with more magic. A fresh litter of kits. All similar in colour (red) but different. Our version of nature TV. We share our space, willingly, because we are nice people, and we don’t keep chickens. And stolen dog buscuits. Part of our taxes.
