Warm and dry and optimistic
When the week started, there was a novelty factor. We were creating our own electricity. Lights on, lights off, repeat. Over time we included the neighbours. Come on over, because we have hot showers and laundry on demand. Now, I’m trying to pe practical.
Can’t store the current, so as it comes, it goes. Today, I have helped the robot to make three loaves of fresh bread. What would have been the output for a fortnight is now today, although I do intend to freeze the surplus. I have offfered some to those with clean hair and clothes, just to demnostrate that I run a comfortable home.
Seriously, as the outage numbers decrease, the level of optimism spirals upward. We can sense that normal is possible. Today, a team of skilled craftspeople arrived, and our roof is not back to the desired water tight status. Don’t want the rain, but don’t want the leaks, either. The debris in the yard is gone. I don’t know where, exactly, but gone.
We still have food (as I make my way through a pile of pizzaa slices from the refrigerator. Will there be a turkey dinner, over the long holiday weekend? Possibly. I don’t want to plan too far ahead. Maybe a roast beef dinner, with gravy. Yes, the dreams are back
Other places are dealing with their own dirt. New huge hurricane in FL. I am not there, so the stress is vicariouls. I like that word; no need to actually go somewhere to have fun. Here at home, the bumps are less. We are warm, and dry, and we will deal with the rest in good time.
