Ignore the odour
Today, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate died. I know, he did some other, less important things along the way, but the name Gorbachev deserves to be remembered. With respect. Not everyone is “the enemy”’.
There was a fire, just up the road, this afternoon. We went by, before the pumper arrived. I don’t have many details. Suffice to say that having the fire department just across the street does not make your home invincible.
We went for a beach walk, before sunset. Like I’ve noted before, the beach locally is different. Every day. There were no seals, this time around, and the birds could all fly, which tells me that the penguins are still elsewhere. The safety of a beach walk (when there are no seals) is paramount. I don’t feel like I’m apt to run into anything. Also, the water is still fairly warm on my toes. A detail, but I care about such things.
Whatever was growing in the next field has been harvested. I want to say “hay”; the combine was used to get all the stalks in a row for baling. No grain, this time around. We did smell a skunk, last evening. Escaping unscathed, after an evening of mouse chase, I think. The odour doesn’t improve, with time. Still an olfactory shock.
Some additional details on the local fire. I don’t have them, but they’re out there. I will learn more. I think the house is OK, meaning that we just lost the empty bottle depot. No big loss. Recycling is Complex.
