Occupancy trend analysis
A new week, and a good time to reflect on the temporary state of visitors. They come, they go, I stay. Summer is short, and although we could have an uptick in numbers, past experiece suggests that we are on that downslope to winter.
With the improvement in infrasctucture, I have been wondering what the effect would be on visits from out-of-province. Actually the only real type we have. We have more pernanent bed space than in past, and I did not have to vacate my personal space (this year). The peak visitor numbers stayed within predicted ranges, and there were few strangers. Yes, that can happen if you are inattentive to to the faces around the table.
Parking was never an issue, although the vehicle with a tent on the roof did merit getting out the camera. Perhaps the one statistic that is off the chart was the sustained figure of three dogs in one house. We had enough bowls and beds to prevent any drawn battles.
Food services used the access to nearby by commerces and restaurateurs. The one odd find is a package of (uncooked) sweet corn in the kitchen. I don’t favour the product, so I am assuming it was forgotten. Similarly, there are a pair of “sporks” in the cutlery drawer, and I’ll be contacting folks to learn what we do with those. A lot of pointy parts, so the postal services might need to give us guidance.
All in all, I suggest implementing a register system. Just to keep track. In subsequent seasons, we could end up with bottlenecks. Like the area by the coffee machine. Plan ahead, right?
