Beach renewal
In Canada, we believe that we are a large nation. And we are, if you count the endless stretches of wilind pderness. In reality, there are other ways to define the “size of the nation”, and in our context we can’t go far based on population. There are certain cities that have a larger census count than this entire nation. Yes, I’m goint to get the the point. Bear with me.
It’s not unusual to meet people who know people. Also, you have a better than even chance of seeing a familiar face, in unfamilar territory.
This evening, while wandering close to the waterline (at the beach), we veered left to avoid another pair of walker. Turns out, we knoew them. Met then years ago, while camping under a nylon canopy. We’ve met the couple, again and again. He was a close friend of someone from my office, and played guitar while the rest of us avoided the evening mosquito descent. When we were looking for a recommend for a decent tent mattress, we were given great advice on a particular product. The one we stiil have, and put out for the moments of guest overflow.
Tonight, we had the same dog on the same leash, and our brief contact was as amilcal as ever. Nice people. It’s been a while; the tent mattress has been our go to for about a decade already. None of us has changed, much. Aged without any of the negative effects. I confess that I did not recognize the couple until it was pointed out that we did know one another, but that’s because I now inhabit a world of forms and shapes. My bad.
