Delay in the sailing schedules
I don’t know how I would handle the news that my car was “pollible unrecoverable”. From a parking lot. We all know the term “Act Of God”, but when your ferry catches fire, burns for more thn a day, and then the company apologizes for “inconvenience… I guess the phrase “Oh My God” is at the polite end of the scale.
One of our ferries caught fire, yesterday. The evacuation was assistedl by local fishing boats, and “all Souls On Board were safe”. It’s a coast guard way of saying that there was damage, but you can all recover from it, right?
I have a special place in my heart for that particular vessel. She brought me (and my bike) here to start university, fifty years ago. We like to keep our boats afloat for as long as we can, given the price tag and the long wait time for a replacement. Much longer than the wait for the ferry to arrive. The story isn’t over, yet, but we will be watching/reading as we go. Nice ferry, when new. Wss ithat the Fuddle or the Duddle? Her twin sister has been berthed in Quebec City for years, undergoing conversion to a gravel barge. As I said, we sail our boats for as long as we can, before sending them off to the graving yards on the other side of the planet. They get old and they get messy. Send the pollutants away.
This incident will upset certain vacation plans. Sink them, if you will. Getting home could be tricky, as the service by air is also spotty. And that bridge is fine, if you have your car. Oops!
