A prize in every box
When I awoke, this morning, I could see as well as any other day. However, there was something missing, in the background. The measured tick-tock of the “time telling bird”. Before heading into the other room, I popped my ears once or twich. All normal internally. And, indeed, the pendulum had failed to make its return. It will be fixed. Give the weight a push, and reset the hands. Life can now continue.
Some of you are old enough to remember Cracker Jacks. Perhaps the gooey boxed treat is still available; I haven’t tried to purchase the product in years. Proof that you could turn “low-cal” nutritional food (the popcorn) into the antithesis. Sugary goop. But, there was a prize in every box. Something worth a dream to a small child, but as for value? I don’t think I have a single one, among all the clutter of a lifetime.
There is a point. This afternoon, I’m installing updates to iOS. One of the point.one series, which are free, rarely of any value in the digital sense, and necessary to life. The analogy of caramel corn with a prize. When the restarts are done, my devices will have been improved; the corporation says so. And I’ll go back to dreaming about the next real update (a point.zero). In fact there’s noe due in the next couple of months and I am pumped! Akin to getting one of those family-sized boxes of sugar, that didn’t happen often.
Imagine! Fond memories of caramel corn (a product that I only consumed when it was gifted). A prize in every box.
