Tell me my name

posted in Uncategorized |

What is my name? A logical question, when the phone rings and I am (robotically) informed that an order for more than three thousaand dollars has been made, in my name. To be fair, I had to wait for an actual human, and although the initiial voice identified that this was the “Visa”, I now learned that I was talking to a representative from “Amazon”. I still wanted to learn my name, so I asked the human, who clarified that I was “Darren”. Go on. That’s not what my parents told me.

These calls don’t last long. A few seconds more, and I had my familiar dial tone. But I really want to know more. Is the whole point that this is a pseudo-Turning test. If I am already so confused that I can’t separate Visa from Amazon, is the next step to ask me precise questions about my financial identity?

This is an industry that has low operating costs. People in a call center, elsewhere, waiting to pounce. How many calls actually provide information of quality? I’m going to continue my research, as my operating costs are also low.

ON had their provincial elections, yesterday. Nothing changed. Do people even care about the abuse of their tax revenues? I have access to enough information to make a measured decision. What about the rest of you? Do you really believe that incompetent politicians reform because of a voting day (not even a holiday). Can a province actually run out of money, after years of political ingerance? Or is money just a pretend concept?
