Some thing will have to be remembered
I continue to fixate on the change of seasons. Call me a dreamer, but I do want to prepare the RV for any movement. That involves getting the various subsystems ready for human occupants. The process is a familiar one. I’ve played the game, year after year. Took notes, because that’s what my time in tech taugunt me. But, this year, things are different. Suddenly, I cannot rely on visual cues.
This afternoon, I spent some time checking on the water heater system. Something that has worked, flawless, with little fiddling on my part. And my realization is that I’m going to require assistance. An assistant. When I can’t see the drain plug, I can’t go much further. Is it in, or is it out?. I tried using my fingertips, which is a dangerous method. Those sheet metal cowlings were tricky, before. Now they’reimportant, until I source some body armor.
My whole life, I’ve been able to visualize situations. With the reassurance that I could see and adjust. Now, not so much.
I’ll do the other, easy stuff first. Drain the big water tank. Put the various routing valves into the other sense. Check for water flow. And if the hot water system is delayed for a few days, we’ll survive. Remember, this is a prep. Not a need. I do wish I had an apprentice.
Our local woodlot (almost a tourist attraction) has been clear cut. I’ll go positive. This is a replant in progress. And twenty-five years hence, I’ll be that old guy that remembers how things looked, back in the spring of ’22.
