IS it freedom or freedumb?

posted in Uncategorized |

From the news feed, I’ve learned that the bridge in Windsor is now clear, and that the impromptu parking lot in Ottawa is emptying. And I’m left to wonder why this required so much time. After all, we’ve had blockades before, and the police were more than willing to intervene. Could it be a question of religion?

I’m stretching this one, far, but all those chants of “freedom” along with flag waving and other symbolic gestures brought the thought to mind. Was this a sacramental moment for those involved? And if your big rig is removed from the photo op, have you suffered from repression by those who don’t share your beilefs; no matter how misguided. Were the police standing back, in case someone accused them of intolerance? It can’t be that simple.

We had a demonstration in our local city. Brought a few tractors (from the farm) and more cries of “freedom”. Was it misheard? Were they actually changing “freedumb”? Have to watch the videos, while I scan for familiar faces. Were those involved sharing a moment of religious fervour? Going forward, will the rest of us be allowed to use their symbols: canadian flags on the back of their pickup trucks. I worry about such thing, realizing that I am highly unlikey to wave a flag at any time. Too close to having a suared set of beliefs.

The opening of that bridge in Windsor (a private portal, in passing) serves as a warming. The zealots are out there. They have no qualms about dragging the rest of us into their mess. We’ll go through this, again. And it has nothing to do with “vaccine mandates” or other hardships. This show arrived, cut from whole cloth as they like to say. Somebody had a plan, and a lot uf unpaid peasants to join the protest. We have our freedoms, and they have their own misguided game plans.
