The return part 2.
We had an early start today. Thanks in part to a municipal work crew that decided to do something really noisy just behind us under cover of darkness. We got the message and we moved along. This is a familiar road and so we just took it hour after hour with brief stops for fuel and food by the end of the afternoon we are on our way across the big bridge. There’s a real sense of relief that comes in getting back to the island. Protected by water on all sides this is home. At home nothing had really changed. The satellite dish was put back on its mount and Internet returned to service. I am now catching up on yesterday and today. With that our two-week road trip has ended much as anticipated. Was it a vacation? Not exactly. But the weather was good, and the vehicle worked most of the time and we’re now back ready to start the long descent into the winds of winter. There was even a coyote in the yard when we got home which shows that nobody has left the area. Tomorrow will catch up on all the little details like the mail and the lawn but tonight I’m going to go to bed in my own bed relieved. I will see how it goes on the next trip but this one shows me that I still can get around on my own two feet with help. I was able to do a 25 minutes walk to a dealership and to a few restaurants and even a few hotel rooms. It was an adventure.
