Eat every little bit

I trust I am not boring you with my eye-tales. Not to be confused with i-tales, as trademarked by those people that sell fruit pretending to be computers.

Less than great news

In health, we don’t always get the news we want. Today, after checking the state of my vision, he admitted that things might not recover to the point I had hoped. I am not blind, but there are things that I may never do again.

Irrational protests

All too often, I fear for the future of my species. Today, a clip from the easternmost province, where a vaccination clinic shut down early… because of a group of protesters. There are those, among us, who interfere with the actual health care of others. And I can’t figure out why. Do the protesters get messages from another galaxy, advising disruption strategies? Think this one through, if you can. In what logical system does interfering with health care make you “stronger, better, faster”? Please, there are so many other topics that merit you standing on a street corner, shouting and waving aimlessly. Personally, I’d like you to focus on automobiles that refuse to turn on their running lights. Just a suggestion.

Power out, not off

And on the evening of the day after, calm returned. This was the first nor’easter of the calendar year. It brought wind and snow. And it brought that condition we like to call “power out”. Not “off”, although it was for about fifteen seconds, before Genny picked up the load. For the neighbours, it lasted fifteen hours. I am too mathematically lazy to figure out a simple conversion factor.

If I didn’t see it, did it happen?

As near as I can tell/see, nothing happened today. I base that on a simple reality. Right now, my vision is in need of a reboot, and doing my usual (checking the headlines on the main news sites) gained nothing. If I can’t read it, did it really happen?

More on the probs

The alert chime sounded, three times. Not three times more important; rather, an admission that we pay attention to weather forecasts from mulitple regions. In this case, a warning that snow flurries could be expected. Not everything is a hurricane, here in the real world.

Short supply of chips

Our emergency provisions have been delivered; let the winter begin. For the “need to know” group, that means a lot of freshly roasted coffee. All of the same variety. Believe me, trying to get any quantity of “fuel” for the espresso machine, locally, is an act fraught with frustration. There’s a lot of good coffee, out there. There’s a lot more of absolute rotgut. I have my priorities straight.

Off to seek care

After my required four days of “stay away from everyone”, I rejoined the “under doctor’s supervision” community. The routine is simple: get clean enough to be around some of the more productive members of society, arrive at the clinic (on time), and go to meet with the substitute surgeon. Yes, just like in education, we have subs. Better pay scale, but the main requirement is a flexible personality, because new faces are the order of business.

Back under cover, once again

The missing snow returned, overnight. Magical. Not that it matters to me, but one must consider that poor hare, spotted on camera yesterday in the woods at the bottom of the field. The hare was white, the ground was brown, and if the hawk had come by, it would have been traces of red and not much else. This cover should remain, so a few months less of sheer terror for our hare.

We have a new calendar

The day of the week no longer matters. I could, at this point, easily shift to  five day week. Or one of twenty. As long as we arrive at the solstice, all together, life will go on. I mean, the planet has been doing this for a very long time, and calling something Monday doesn’t make it so.
