Too moist to smell smoky

Dod you every play Monopoly? Not the real game; that version where the rule sheet is MIA, and your sibling keeps making up the regulations as time goes on? Well, that’s exactly where we (meaning Canada and the US) are at right now, in the decisions to open the border.

In front of the grill

Outside, by the BBQ, there are many things to notice. That is, if the bugs haven’t learned about the feeding possibilities. This was a wonderful evening; sunshine, gentle breeze, a full tank of propane. Given the rareness of my grill moments so far this summer, that’s just normal. Mundane.

Anticipating your summer vacation

When the Purolator man arrives, bearing a heavy load of ordered motor oil, I am both pleased and astonished. I need the oil, and it came much earlier than expected. Why, if the weather holds, I might get my genny service done before the end of this month. In short, the onus is now on me.

Open for everything, actually

It was inevitable, rally. Today, the provincial gates swung open, and the hoards will soon be among us. Why, up at the light, the parking lot was full, and that has been rare for some time. We stayed long enough for me to get a bowl of fresh ice cream while the (two) dogs announced their excitement to all and sundry. Let the record show: within a compact car, that’s LOUD!

Shoehorned content

This post is going to be shoehorned into a hole in my calendar; somehow, yesterday became today without my noticing. Here’s the short (or maybe long) version. The blog stopped working. I waited for a day, and then logged in via the maintenance website. Checked my source code. Grabbed a copy (two, actually) of the database. Called for help in a chat window.

Me and my dog buddies

The things I do for “the cause”. Why, this afternoon, I went out to the RV and sat there in air-conditioned comfort. How else to tell if everything worked properly? We weren’t in need of a chill, but if ever.

Improved my chances

Seventy-seven days: the time between my two sessions in a the vax-chair. I assume they’ve been very busy, because I’ve been mentally prepared for at least that long. And now I sit quietly for the mandatory wait-week, while my antibodies gear up for a war I don’t really want to have to fight. I can stay home; it fits with my introverted view of the world.

Something to ponder

They almost had me. A crime documentary series, with the title :”Heist”. And then the tagline. Watch people almost get away with these crimes of a lifetime. You see what the publicist did there, right. Oh well. Back to searching for TV content that takes me beyond the mundane.

Dump and fill

Yes, I was bored. Sometime around mid-afternoon, I decided that there was no imminent departure for the RV tourists, so I decided not to keep the fresh water tank filled. First, I hooked up the curly blue hose that we never use, but I realized that I didn’t have the required patience to water the lawn through such a tiny nozzle. Next plan: uncrew the big white plug from the bottom of the water reservoir, and let the driveway absorb whatever. It came out, by hand, which was surprising. The next fill will be when a) I need water or b) the next imminent departure might happen. Before that, we have some new rubber to install.

Cat thieves reported

Congratulations to the student from the city who just received a BA, at the age of sixteen. An achievement.  I must wonder, though. How much of the “total university experience” did the new graduate actually have, along the way? Although I’m a long way removed from my time on campus, there was a lot more going on than simple academics. When the moment for the big 50th anniversary comes around (in 2071), what memories will be among the top ten?
