Things I learned

posted in environment |

The day is winding down. Sunset without benefit of the sunshine, etc. Time to note some of the things I learned, today and that actually apply to any given day.

The light over the stove cooking surface has been replaced. Sadly, with the same anaemic 15W bulb size. I now miss my old range hood with a pair of halogens. Getting a new bulb meant visiting two different stores; I wanted to be proactive and purchase a pair of bulbs. Not possible. I have the only one available within a two hour round trip, and I’m not planning to share.

If you ever want to get rich, figure out how to put olive oil in an aerosol. Drives the value up by 500%, which could mean a difference between cat food and caviar if you’re looking for a hedge investment. Can’t do much about the oily nature of the product, so plan to invest in paper towels at the same time.

Hard to plan for a “weather bomb” that only promises breezy weather. All the precipitation is forecast to run out before the clouds cross the big bridge. In the local market, there wasn’t even a “run” on storm chips. Guess the worry coefficient is low.

And it pays to put the bins to the curb the night before. I didn’t, this time around, and the truck went by in stealth mode sometime before noon. I now have enough compost to get me through a big storm. I know… not exactly high on the menu list.
