Is it real or is it generator?
Looks like Maritime Electric can’t catch a break. Just as they were starting to get stability, another front has come through, complete with gusty winds and snowfall. Here, the power bounced all afternoon; proof that my propane cylinders aren’t empty yet. I’ve been playing a little game: close my eyes and ask “is this current from the road or from the generator” during that period before the noisemaker goes back to sleep. The “snap” from the transfer switch is actually soothing.
Meanwhile, our neighbour gave up on trying to keep his little gas generator in the loop. Last update, he was eating cornflakes by the window, in the dark.
I didn’t even bother going for the mail today. Too messy outside. Just the quick jog to the curb, to drag the green bin back to safety, was sufficient to remind me why summer beats winter. Right now, the gusts are only hitting 50+ kph. No big deal, when you’re inside. My plan to attach the air/marine antennas will have to wait for more clement conditions (I’m not in love with life on a ladder). Tomorrow?
Our newest gadget, it seems, is some sort of dehydrator. Right now, there’s a batch of zucchini “chips” in preparation. Not my choice. I’m going to investigate the procedure for making beef jerky once the novelty wears off. Lots of cheap beef available at the market, and we have some hot sauces. Could be the start of a wonderful relationship. I was asked if I wanted to go traditional and hold the new boxes until the “tree goes up”. That sounds like a way to cause undue suffering.
