The inevitable hiccup

posted in economy |

As the dog and I headed down the highway, there was a certain satisfaction. This is tax installment day (a day early, actually) and we’re still solvent enough to make the payment without stress. The dog was along if the government decided to request additional funds; he would be a hostage. I jest, but with the mismanagement of funds by legislatures across the land, one must be prepared.

Still no sign of my cable order from Amazon. Given that we’re three weeks since the delivery phase started, I’m shaken. This is the firm that brags about their delivery prowess.  Should I call, or should I wait? Their competitor, when I placed an order for some sheet music, was up front. I’ll not see the order until January. I can live with that.

This evening, we headed down to Souris for the illumination of the community Christmas tree. Lots of children, and carols in the gazebo. My only worry was the mud pit (a driveway in the middle of things) that seemed ready to swallow the young and leave no trace.

In the mail, a new bank card. Guess the one I received last week was just a test run. I phoned the service department, and asked if I could put one aside in case the other gets gobbled by a payment point or a wallet loss. The person at the other end assured me that my plan would be completely acceptable. Guess I’d better carry TWO cards for the next while, against the inevitable hiccup.
