Wonder full

posted in technology |

I love the reaction of people to their discovery of Google Earth. Almost as if they’d received a private airplane, with none of the attendant disadvantages (how many runways do you have around the house?) The power of seeing familiar locations from above.

Today, our transport division had its first Eureka. Imagine, we can see where the bus will climb a hill (no, not really). We’ll be able to tell the contractors about the special needs when they plow out a site (the pictures are all green, the way I wish things were right about now). We can find our houses (everybody does that one).

Still, thanks to the largess of our neighbouring MIC (mil-indus-complex) we do have information that was only dreamed about in bygone times. Enjoy it while we can; these are dangerous times.
