The copycat business model
For a while now, we’ve noticed an interesting tendency. Locally, if one business seems to be running successfully, there will be copycats. Just whisper “Fro-Yo” in the city… Today, a second flower shop opened in town. Has there been a prediction of a sudden upswing in the frequency of “comings, couplings and departures”?
The family has a new common hobby. Target practice, using a spring-powered plastic pellet projector. The squirrels seem perplexed.
Most interesting video from the Wild Fire province: a home security camera feed, in the final moments before flashover happens.
Someone posted some videos, from Charlottetown in the early decades of the last century. Fascinating, particularly in the number of common reference points with “now”. Progress at a snail pace. Cars driving on the other “right” side of the road. Trains, with passengers. Horse and buggy, outside of the theme village setting. B&W silent film. I should watch this again!
Actually, now that I’m back into my own B&W archives, I wonder why colour ever caught on (a joke). But, I could so use a session in a decent darkroom; a chance to reaffirm my skills from an earlier time and place. Digital doesn’t fulfill that need.
We missed a book launch in the city, this evening. The book will read as well, next week, next month. In fact, I’m not sure what a meeting with the author would have brought, other than a guilt attack, because I hadn’t purchased a paper copy, suitable for signing and storing in the “first edition” section of my personal library (again, a joke).
