DO NOT wander down lanes

posted in genealogy |

At first, it seemed like a plan. Put everyone in the car and head off to explore new places. Perhaps wander through a “paper town”. Of course, plans change, and when the car left the lot, we were down to two. The dog may forgive us, some day…

This time of the year, the rule of thumb is simple. DO NOT wander down random unpaved lanes, unless you have a whim to camp until the real spring begins. The mud season is upon us, and we noticed that many cars are parked “up by the road”. The trout are also (legally) biting, and every bridge seemed to have a collection of vehicles nearby. Yes, I’d like to try my luck, but one mustn’t be pushy. I could wander up a wood trail until I hit water (and I would hit water).

In the end, we visited our campground, and then headed for the local market. Meals for the next few days. We’ve been here long enough that we actually see people we know. Feels like home, etc. Another plus is that darkness is later, every day. Right about now (20h20), for the record.

I’ve been trying to put together an ascendance for a cousin this evening. One that I haven’t met, but that could prove a valuable contact for sorting out some of my brick walls. I believe in bringing something to the feast; consider it as akin to a potluck supper. The quality of records is better than it used to be, and putting together four generations required a minimum of circling. I like that.
