Doubling the height
This afternoon, I succeeded in doubling the height of our Christmas tree-to-be. Found another section in the big cardboard box… Try doing that, you “natural tree” aficionados. I admit that I do envy your balsamic odour, though.
And now that the tree has reached an acceptable size, what’s next? Should I open the door and allow the half-dozen jays to perch? What about hiding a hare in the underbrush? Son #3 suggested we go for an outdoor tree, replete with snow on the branches, but he was quickly overruled.
Actually, the weather has warmed, and that snow cover from the weekend is just a memory.
After reading my owner’s manual, I decided to check the number of hours “run” on the generator, and then to top up the oil level. No big deal; similar to what we do with cars (or should). My next fret will be about the quantity of propane in the tanks. Why doesn’t the company add a little gauge that I can check from time to time, instead of trying to calculate the volume remaining after a series of power outages. Oh, that’s still not completely repaired, as of a few hours ago. Imagine three days and counting… no TV, no heat, no place to charge the iWhatever. Makes the genny seem like the most practical addition possible to the normal rural home.
The cheap bacon that we took home from the market has one issue: non-standard slice thickness. Almost as if we had received the output from the apprentice meatcutter. Still, bacon is bacon.
