I need not apply

Shades of Shakespeare! “To sleep, perchance to dream”. I’ll bet he made the mistake of staying a little too long under warm covers, had a few exhausting nightmares and woke up wishing he’d just got up before the night’s rest was spent. Yes, I know better than to laze abed… now.

Anyhow, the request, last evening for a “flashlight at hand” from the rest of the family left me wondering (and replacing batteries in that older lamp we keep around for camping. Seems they heard one of those wild kingdom sequences (while I was asleep) and wanted to be able to check on the health and welfare of hares after dark. Sounds like a plot for an illustrated book.

Went on a search, this morning, for a mislaid carbon fibre pole. Didn’t find it, but it did get us over to the back side of the Basin, pretending to be environmental tourists. The stop sign, part way down the lane, warned us that only authorized persons should proceed. I gave us the required absolution, and no harm was done.

Bulb planting continues. Do hares nibble flower supplies? We’ll soon know.

Job ad, seeking candidates for a future Mars mission. As tempting as the gig sounds, I am grossly unqualified. The odds of my acquiring dual citizenship, completing a STEM degree at an accredited college without putting my debt load into orbit and then getting in over a thousand hours as a jet pilot, while shrinking a centimeter… I guess you understand why I’m not going to fill in the paperwork.
