Note the changes

posted in environment |

Got some rain last night. The first rain in almost two weeks, actually. Just in time to give our thousands of grass seeds a chance to move from potential to flourishing – I hope. Have to wait and see.

If the dog didn’t take me for a walk, I’d miss important changes in the neighbourhood. That new “for sale” sign next door will bear watching. A sign of summer has been, for years, the planting of a sign in front of your house. Hoping for a deluded rich person to stop by and fall in love with the view. This time around, there may be a desire to move in play.

Another sign of summer, as near as I can tell, is the upswing in high speed traffic on the road outside. We’ve gone from a car an hour to a car every couple of minutes, and there seems to be great urgency to get somewhere. Maybe I’ll go for an explore, soon.

This evening, we purchased a lathe, complete with accessories and dry wood and an hour of reminiscing with the previous owner. Somebody that remembers my forebears! Actually, a fascinating visit, with details on people that I remember as twigs on my virtual tree. Goes well with woodworking, I guess.

Getting everything into the car required some disassembly and translations, but the Rogue came through. Thankfully, there’s room in the garage for the moment. The car is “not quite a truck”, but it is suited to what we want to do. Until gas is free, some compromise will be required.
