On tour and marking the way
The moment would have been well served by a candid snapshot: a joyous, bewildered dog. He saw me, and the beloved leather leash appear in the doorway. A dog can be dumbfounded. I don’t often accompany him on his nocturnal tour, where he leaves behind more than he receives, so he had to guess what I wanted.
In passing, I do stoop and scoop. But, those markers are all his. After all, he might never pass “that way, again”. Others of his creed appreciate the time he takes to leave a sign. In the evening, especially when the temperature is plummeting, we don’t meet many kindred spirits. We made a loop, checking out who was into lawn clearing, and who had a new pothole in front of the driveway. I live on a tight curve, so the pavement tends to stay in place.
Starting to take this move thing seriously. I actually called a couple of the bigger firms, but they don’t “do” weekends in the office. Does that mean that we have to plan our effort around their schedule? I’ll learn, soon enough. Their sites offer “online estimates” where you mark your travel plan and a detailed inventory of being. I’ve read enough to know that the exercise is equivalent to those stupid “burpees” we had to do in gym class; keeps the client busy, without having any impact on the corporate bottom line. I’m going for the personal visit, written estimate model, before committing any cash to the game.
Trying to guess how many new locksets I should order; it would help if I knew what size I need.
