Hardly noticed
The Canadian version of “bad monetary policy” is clear to all this week. In the face of one of the worst winters on record (at least in the east), our dollar is trading at recent lows. Keep that in mind, when you dream of a vacation in the sunny, warm south. I guess it is time to revive the plan for adding an eleventh province, in the Caribbean.
Locally, the new snow is hardly noticed. A result of adding insult to injury. I did go out to shovel in the afternoon sunshine. An act of desperation, of course. Now that I’ve proved myself willing to move piles from here to there, the stuff will surely up and melt away. At least I’m able; the problem for those who have tied their existence to a mechanical marvel (see Snowblower) is that the foolish machines can’t handle the throw as well as an analog (see Human). Plus, the machines require gas and maintenance (see Expensive).
Rather than ponder the depths of accumulated precipitation, I’m going to look forward to spring, and summer, and autumn. All show little proclivity for new snow.
So, what else is happening in the world? Seriously. I don’t get out much any more (see Winter), and my news is filtered by others with different interest sets. I don’t really care that the city will have several hundred road construction projects this spring. Or that a proposed skyscraper might cast a shadow over the backyard barbecue installations in a particular neighbourhood. Not my back yard. Not my barbecue.
