Statuesque individuals

posted in media |

Oscar has our attention, for this evening. So many familiar faces, so many well-crafted humourous remarks, so many movies I haven’t seen.

Since I am a “saw it at home” theatre non-goer, the Oscar ceremony is always a bit of a spoiler, or a rental guide for six months hence. A couple of exceptions; I did see “Crash” on DVD some months back. J-Lo was there. There was a good Bjork joke. The MPAA slipped in a piracy notice early on, which didn’t tell anyone to turn off their VCR; I guess TV doesn’t count for them. Just when I though I was safe from the Cruise missile, the commercial for the next impossible mission went by in ten seconds. A new, funny Stella Artois commercial and a great piece of advertising for the Grampa Burger.

Thank goodness for variety shows.
