Price(less)

posted in travel |

Is there a rule that requires a cellphone to be in a state of terminal battery failure, when the important call arrives? As we stood outside with the house store on the other end, my great fear was that “fade to black” moment.

We made it. The phone call put us on schedule, and the meeting, two hours long, brought things closer to a firm foundation. ICF, with nine feet of headroom. A detached (sort of) garage. Forced air heat from the geothermal installation. Pages of other details.

Now we wait. The price still hasn’t been unveiled. Maybe next week. It’s hard to get what you want in the first go-round.

With that done, we were off to meet the extended family, down by the waterfront. Parking on a beautiful summer day is a game of chance. You might have to thread the needle with the dog along crowded sidewalks. Willing to scoop, just in case of a major marker. Bid adieu, go for some fro-yo and head east.

So far, we seem to meet kids from away, predominantly, almost exclusively, that have snared summer jobs. Bilingualism is a great skill on a CV, when the tourist dollars are involved. I knew that, already.

Tonight, we are encabined. Has to do with visiting dignitary and showers. Or the coyotes that are singing in the woods up the way. Had to go out (in the dark of night, I might add) and ask that the router be “bumped”; now all is well. And with that, to bed I shall go. Maybe.
