On the crossover of the season

posted in Wx |

Finally, the season change has caught up with the clock. When I left for work this morning, the sunrise reflected off the bottom of solid stratus, harbinger of the weather to come. By the time my first coffee was pouring from the dispenser (inflated recently to 70 cents), the snow was covering all in sight. We’ve made the crossover, and from today until “a long time from now” we should have a consistent blanket.

It’s worth noting that we are fully two weeks later than last year. Not a big deal, statistically, but if winter starts to lose weeks each year, I might yet get to see a palm tree. Until then, my snow-covered linden will have to suffice.

First snowfall

Take it from me; people don’t become better winter drivers with the extra preparation time. The bus still required almost an hour to get across town, and streets remain slippy for those that don’t have winter tires for footwear. I’m now aware that a bad fall will mark me in more than a mental sense; I don’t want any bruises or sprains this close to the holidays.

But, I’m careful and my mitts are on – too tight, but on. The winter coat is “found” although I hope to leave it on the hook for a couple of weeks yet. There’s only five weeks left until “the break” and people at work are mentally ready already.
