Review the support and reconsider
Fixed yesterday’s problem. Reformat, and profit. On to the next emergency.
I spent some time this morning, reviewing my contacts with a particular firm over the past year. In return for $10K, we received little. Precious little. Expensive little. In light of that, the support contract is now under evaluation, with a move to a pay-as-you-go model. Not likely to involve me, long term, but I prefer when public monies are spent with due diligence.
My vacation request has been approved. No need to collect extra hours to buy back my one lacking day; it will have been earned by the time repayment comes due. Eight weeks, out of the cubicle. Yes, I AM counting the days until then.
Temperatures soared this afternoon. UP! All the way to 29C; another sign that better times are on their way this way. In the old days, we called that a “beach day”. In the absence of sand and waves, let’s call it a reminder.
My newspaper is part of a larger corporation, with mastheads across the province. Today, one of the talking heads announced that the paper version will be just a memory within a few years. Having tried their tablet version, the value is evident. What life with less newsprint, in a province that depends on the “smell of money” in a number of towns; not so clear. Paper is important, especially paper for the newspaper. My tablet is brighter, and shinier (and needs to be charged regularly). If I get cold, I can’t sleep under the tablet, or use it to line my boots. No editorial commentary, intended, by the way.
