Relying on a real teller
My offer was to fix things on Monday. And so I did. The laptop was on the desktop by starting time, and returned to its keeper by coffee time. All that I had to do was keep refreshing the “updates” screen until the problems went away. If only everything was that easy.
Starting to get edgy. My vacation request is in, and odds are in my favour that I will get what I want. The summer, off. Except… my greed level is rising. For a few dollars less, I could simply decide to not return once vacation starts. Clear my desk, wave a quick goodbye and “head on down the road” with a happy dance. I won’t; my plan involves going out when the Xmas decorations go up, but that’s months away.
The tires are changed on the car, and the PEI tax bill is paid. Let us declare a formal end to winter. The only discomfort is the failure of the bank to add the Island to their list of “pay us online” clients. I had to go to the local branch office and ask where the wickets were. Now, that’s a nod to the old days. My kids might not ever know the experience of standing in a queue, waiting for the next available teller. Now that we can’t pay paper bills in the instant money machine, the class of service is safe(r), but I wouldn’t recommend “teller” as a career choice.
