TPE is similar to APE, only cheaper

How do you handle leftover portions of food from your kitchen? Do you place the food on a plate, covered in a thin layer of plastic? Do you place the food in hermetically sealed plastic boxes, able to withstand the wind tunnel conditions of a modern frost-free refrigerator? Or do you convince the dog that he really does live in Paradise. Careful. The question is tricky, and the response laden with meaning. You could (unknowingly) be aligned with me, against me, or in the camp of the impartial observer.

Trying  to work my way around a puzzle offered by HR. It seems that you can’t be on medical leave and vacation at the same time. Different budgets. However, you can change your vacation dates to allow for medical leave, and you can postpone vacation, but you can’t leave a vacation period to be on medical leave… I don’t get it, yet. I have until next week to get it. The stress may make me want to go on medical leave.

At work, we have a name for the situation where the simple physical presence of a technician will solve technical problems. No need to intervene; just be there. There’s an acronym, TPE, standing for “technician proximity effect”. This morning, we learned that there  are variations, involving our analyst (higher pay grade).  Naturally, it has been identified as “analyst proximity effect”, or APE. No comment from the person involved.

No, we didn’t celebrate May in the manner of the Island or the Rock. Getting a blanket of frosty white is just not where we want to go, in the current weather observation.
