Dealing with IT chaos

posted in environment |

In today’s episode of alphabet soup: Using RDP, I took control of the VOIP CME via the CLI and managed to restart a broken process. I wonder if there’s a t-shirt for that?

All around me, we’re dealing with IT chaos. The backup server doesn’t. Sending a general message to others in the CS world required deciphering a web interface that was assembled like an Ikea project. Transferring the contents of one email ID happened too quickly, requiring a lot of smoothing over. And the great battery replacement search is turning into that, precisely. All in a day’s work.

Back at home, the episode of GLEE was epic. Opening night of the big Broadway show, with all the attached nerves and insults. May watch this one again, just because I can.

I’m going to mention that the Habs are doing very well, for the fourth time in a row. Without jinxing anything, I hope.

For the last week, I’ve been trying to hand off an iPad to a designated cadre. So far, zero progress. Used to be, toys made people pause for a moment or two. Not any more. Now, a new gadget just means one more reason to work outside the box. Note that I’m not in line to add anything to my desktop, at work. At home, just waiting for an opportunity. Sooner or later, I’m going  to have time for testing, and I’d like for things to run smoothly. Not like work; like play. Imagine a world where a project can go from start to finish without interruption.
