Seeking my pi

posted in humour |

What are you looking for? (This before dawn). A Raspberry Pi. Fast forward twelve hours. What are you looking for? A Raspberry Pi. And the second time was no more fruitful than the first. Put aside the puns. Somewhere, in a yet-to-be-uncovered corner, I stored a small computer. Months ago. And now that I’ve promised to loan it to someone else. You guessed it. If it was a “real pie”, I’d put the disappearance down to a late night snack by he who stays awake at night. Electronics, in a plastic case? Not so sure.

If only the dog was better trained.

If only I was better organized.

What else happened today? The snow storm didn’t hit (yet). Read that last sentence with a wistful, yet oddly optimistic tone. We want the pleasure of more snow (bragging rights), slow travel on the bus (I have distractions available), a possibility of some cardio when it comes time to clear a path to the road and a realization that we don’t get storms “like we used to”.  The two-day blizzard is something from an earlier epoch. My children may never experience the thrill.

Finished another novel by Martin Cruz Smith. His work spans more than two decades; I first heard of Gorky Park through him, not the Scorpions. This one, Tatiana, was over too quickly. Hurry up and write some more!

The thought crossed my mind, last evening, that we may finally be settled enough in our ways here to make the plunge. A bread making machine. Loaves that are hot, and buttered, and eaten before they develop a fringe of organic green.
