Time to edit

posted in education |

Someone stopped by my cubicle this afternoon with a particular request. Could I locate a computer that went out for repairs, maybe? After some careful consideration, the simple answer is NO.

You didn’t know what kind of computer it was. You didn’t know when it was submitted for repairs. You didn’t know which (of us) received the machine. You didn’t know what the problem was. Is the character of the original request clear? I work miracles, all the time. However, some things are beyond my abilities. Don’t despair; eventually we’re going to notice one machine too many. It won’t be soon.

I’m working on my latest course from the MOOC world, and the material is new and interesting. Worth the effort. A special note to the professor/narrator (this is video based content). “Uh” does not convey much information. Using it every three or four words doesn’t improve your chances. Since this is a course on sound editing, perhaps you should edit your content.

Close to 165,000 hopeful voyagers have put their names (and some cash) into the hands of a project team  that want to send some people to Mars later in the century. It’s worth noting that the trip doesn’t have a return portion. No, I haven’t applied. I’m not that keen a traveler at the best of times. However, the videos submitted by the adventurers are available for the rest of us. Just in case you need inspiration to do, well, something. Check it out: applicants.mars-one.comand then consider how you might spend the rest of your vacation.
