A cross section of talent
Right now, I wish I’d drop all my extra cash on an air conditioner. It doesn’t matter if my electricity bill will climb. Or that any machine I can afford won’t really work. I’d almost agree to go to work during vacation. We’re into that time of year when the humidex hits forty and the comfort level hits zero. Even the dog is exploring the basement (that is not normal routine). I wonder if I started storing my shirts in the freezer, taking one out when forced to dress for a discerning public. Is ice cream a health food?
My evening distraction is provided by America’s Got Talent; where else can you see so much gold and so much dross on the same stage. Seriously; if there is an audition process, it remains invisible to the rest of us. A costumed squirrel eating a large puppet? A man in an exploding box? Using plungers for target practice? That’s the low end. On the high end, I noticed “212 Green” and “Chloe Channell” among others. Too much to list, actually.
Forgive my lapse into talent TV. I grew up during the Ed Sullivan era. Agreed, Ed brought in world level talent, but when you are in elementary school that distinction is lost on you. I watched too many people balancing plates on sticks to understand what it really meant. Only now, with a lifetime of judgmental watching do i understand that the bad should not get their 1.5 minutes of fame.
And on a sad note, Cory Monteith from Glee is gone.
