The punctuation of the gag reflex
Another day gone by. Already? Twenty-four hours doesn’t have the same staying power it once did.
On the way home, I happened to catch a conversation that lofted out from a small group of small children. Hard to avoid, actually. One youngster telling the others that “she” (I think it was a little sister) had said that “two and two equals three”. The tone; derisive. As in “how stupid is that?”. And from such basic elements, we build our society. Not only must the truth be taught, but the truth must be supported. Certain political parties would be pleased to know that conformism is alive and well.
But what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? No idea.
Another mayor has resigned in Montreal. Self-defense, in view of an upcoming court appearance. It must be hard to be a politician. No conformism to the standard rules of society, here. If you are among the powerful (a self-perceived view) then you are entitled (again, self-perceived). The argument for paying decent salaries to the elected few is that they have to give up so much for public service. I beg to differ.
The last night was punctuated by quick leaps to the door. The dog requested no less than three trips outside under cover of darkness (two due to a gag reflex). Why can’t he sleep as soundly at night as he does during the day? I’m ready to get him down to the shore. The calming soundtrack of surf and breeze might give us all more restful nights.
