Putting on the old routine (well-worn clothes)
The excuse of being on vacation doesn’t hold much water when the travel part is over. It’s time to get “back in the saddle”, time for putting on the old routine (well-worn clothes). Time to put the house in order.
The refrigeration system was first to be verified. Empty, so we’ll have to fill it up. At least the grocery business is open early, and the milk/bread/eggs/fresh grapes (for the dog) list was filled before the others even climbed out of bed. Then, the open pond on the “back 40”, where a quick backwash and chlorination put things back in order. This doesn’t mean I intend to swim. Some loads of laundry (it does pile up when you go camping). Much like an errant student, home for the weekend from the dorm.
I put a great deal of energy into pushing the lawnmower (boy to push the lawnmower). Think of a systems of gears and pulleys, with me as the driving force. An amazing thing how such a small farm can generate so many hours of labour. Or maybe it was the WOW and DS and WII breaks. I must renegotiate the terms of this collective agreement.
Walls have been washed. Thank you to the washer. My part was to move huge pieces of furniture and spend time in other parts of the house, doing other equally productive things (like carefully disassembling a pile of tangerine boxes that were constructed of very valuable balsa wood). Nature abhors idle hands.
Speaking of idol, the Canadian version was in Queen mode for the last two days, so I had a chance to enjoy snippets of hits performed by those who aspire to greatness. Brian May put on a good show, didn’t he? I keep hoping for “the moment”, when Northern talent will trump Southern talent, but so far it has eluded me (and the contestants). The whole thing will be over soon, and we can rest up before the return of the auditions.
