Only halfway through the day
I now know how to replace a can. Useful knowledge, in case I ever own my own electrical utility. I even approached this impromptu learning situation properly, with a camera, questions and all the time I needed. I’m not so sure the two fellows with the spurs and really cool truck had come prepared to be the “show and tell” of the morning, but sometimes things happen. Now, for the curious, a can is an electrical transformer that sits on a pole, and in the real world they don’t turn off the power first. Things to know before you climb to see what the small print says.
We now (almost) own two copies of the next Potter bricklet. A frenzy has overcome the bookseller world, and we will have one delivered by a special truck to a locked box near our home and another that will be released to one of us (along with a lot of oddly dressed readers) sometime after midnight later this week. Maybe the dog and I can find some place else to be… the special 1000 point magic card is a mystery.
We’re seated in Timothy’s, listening to Regina Spector on a CD player that jumps from time to time, enjoying yet more wireless. The noise level is slightly higher than I might choose for writing, but until the battery gives out I can handle it. My meter claims 58 more minutes; this is generally a lie. We’re not alone… I can see two other Macs, a Toshiba and some people using paper (is that an alternative to the computer?). My coffee will be cool enough to drink sometime this afternoon.
We’ve already had lunch at Rick’s Place in St. Peter’s Bay. Great food. The quality of his food is about as good as I’ve found for fish and chips (no, the new place in Charlottetown doesn’t even come close!). We’ve also been shopping for cheap T’s and decided that holiday time is good for the soul. And we’re only halfway through the day
