The optimism of a new name

posted in technology |

The walk to the bus, this morning, was a study in gravity. Praying for gravity. Or sticky feet. More ice, everywhere. As I mentioned (elsewhere), if the weather people insist on freezing rain, they should follow things up with sandstorms. Unlike the city, where pedestrians are part of the “forgotten class”. How is it that cars, with four rubber paws, get full protection from slippy spots, but walkers… not so much?

This will all be forgotten by midsummer, but today I walked like someone who was on a tightrope, and blind. Perhaps that is the reason curling caught on as a sport in northern areas: practice for walking on water.

RIM is no more. Blackberry is the new word (even though the announcer on the evening news insisted on the old “tried and true”). My hope is that the two Playbooks that are close at hand will also get new software. Come on, you’re on a roll. Try to please the paid up customers while courting new blood. With less than 02% of the smartphone market, the firm has to remain really, really optimistic.

I’m still trying to sort out what fan my laptop would like as a present. I’ve watched the videos, and I’ve visited the online sellers (in passing, why does shipping go for over 200% of the item value?) I’ll eventually track down someone, on a far distant shore that will sell with free shipping, and then the laptop will be disassembled, again. Maybe this time, I’ll connect the “button bar” properly, as an aside.
